You can draw straight or curved path objects you want using the Pen Tool 
on the Tool Palette.

Modifying a path using anchor points
- You can move the anchor points or modify the curve handles using the Direct Selection Tool

- You can add anchor points to a path using the Add Anchor Point Tool

- You can delete anchor points from a path using the Delete Anchor Point Tool

- You can convert straight lines to curved lines, or convert curved lines to straight lines by creating or removing the curve handles using the Convert Anchor Point Tool
