Clipping a path object
Use the Knife Tool to clip a path object (cut it into two pieces).
- Click Selection Tool
on the Tool Palette.
- Select the object you want to clip on the Canvas.
- Select the Knife Tool
on the Tool Palette.
- Draw a line where you want to cut the object.
Use the Selection Tool or the Direct Selection Tool 
to move either of the two new objects created by clipping the original object.
