Cutting a path

You can cut a path object using the Scissors Tool .

1. Select the Direct Selection Tool on the Tool Palette.
2. Select the object you want to cut. Anchor points appear on the path object.
   
3. Click the Scissors Tool on the Tool Palette.
4. Click the mouse button on the point you want to cut. The clicked path is divided on the clicked part. In case of a closed path, you should cut at least two points to divide the path into two paths.
   

You can move the divided part of the path object to the desired position using the Selection Tool or the Direct Selection Tool .

You cannot divide bitmap images or vector images such as the circle, polygon, or rectangle. To cut these objects, you should first convert them to path objects by selecting the [Modify > Convert to Path] menu command.
