What is Gradient?

Gradient is a coloring method that lets colors of an object vary with gradual changes in transparency. You can apply the gradient to the Fill or Stroke of an object, by selecting gradients from the Gradient library in the Gradient tab of the Swatches window. You can edit existing gradients or add a new gradient to the library.
