Selecting an object/group in the Layers window
To edit objects that are components of an image, you should select them first. You can select objects on the Canvas using the Tool Palette or select them in the layers list box of Layers tab of the Layers window. When you use the Layers window, you can choose one of the sub-elements of a group.
Selecting an object
You can select an object in the layers list box of the Layers tab of the Layers window.
- You can select multiple objects by clicking objects one by one while holding down the <Ctrl> key.
- If you click one object and then click another in the list box while holding down the <Shift> key, all the objects in between the selected objects are selected.
- If you select one object in the list box and press the <Ctrl + A> key, all the objects in the list box are selected.
- If you select the [Edit > Inverse Selection] menu command, all objects other than the currently selected object(s) are selected.
Selecting a group
- Select a group from the layers list box of the Layers tab of the Layers window.
- All the objects contained in the group are selected. As grouped objects behave as a single object, they are transformed together.
When you select an object from the list box while using tools other than the Selection Tool 
on the Tool Palette, the bounding box is not displayed.
Selecting a sub-element of a group
- Select a sub-element of a group in the list box in the Layers tab of the Layers window.
- Only the object selected in the list box is selected on the Canvas. In this case, you can transform the only the selected object.
Click the Expand 
/Collapse 
icon to show or hide the sub-elements of a layer such as objects or groups in the Layers tab of the Layers Window.
