What is SVG?

Namo WebCanvas is a vector-based Web graphic authoring tool that supports the SVG file format. You can work with an image in the Namo WebCanvas and save it as an SVG file for various uses. However, you cannot open SVG files or import them onto the canvas. Saved SVG files can be opened and checked on a web browser, and they can be edited with a text editor such as Windows’ Notepad.

SVG (Scalable Vector Graphic)

SVG (Scalable Vector Graphic) is the standard for graphics in XML which has been proposed by the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium). This is also a vector graphic format which has integrated the merits of XML (Extensible Markup Language) such as its high extensibility and interoperability, which make it possible to extend the application of graphics to a large degree. This high-quality graphic standard lets you create more precise design including gradient elements, animations, and various filter effects.

Characteristics of SVG

SVG is the graphic standard marked by text. This enables you to search graphics as you would search text, using indexing for searching images, as well as applying SVG format images to other applications with ease. Moreover, the DOM (Document Object Model) of XML and SVG can access all kinds of graphical elements, which makes it possible to create dynamic graphic documents in connection with a database system. All of these features of SVG render high-quality printing while supporting the creation of graphic elements, irrespective of the type of platform or computing device you use.

SVG Viewer

An SVG plug-in must be installed on your system to view and check SVG files in Web browsers. You can download the plug-in from the SVG Zone page of Adobe Systems. If you want to preview an SVG file, select the [View > Preview SVG in Browser] menu command.
