Pattern is a kind of painting that you can be applied to . A Pattern library is comprised of multiple bitmap images patterns.

Attributes of Pattern tab
You can apply various patterns of images to objects using the Pattern tab of the Swatches window. In the Pattern tab, the patterns registered in the library are displayed as thumbnails. You can add new patterns or remove unnecessary patterns, and rearrange the thumbnails by dragging one and dropping it into the desired position. Double-clicking the thumbnail opens the Pattern Editor dialog box, which allows you to edit the pattern settings.

Add Pattern from Bitmap File |
Adds a new bitmap pattern to the current pattern library. Select the image file you want to add in the Open dialog box. |
Add Pattern from Fill |
Adds the Fill properties of the selected object to the current pattern library. |
Add Pattern from Stroke |
Adds the Stroke properties of the selected object to the current pattern library. |
Add Pattern from Selected Object |
Adds the pattern of the selected object to the current pattern library. |
Remove Pattern |
Removes the selected pattern from the current pattern library. |
New Library |
Creates a new, blank pattern library. Enter Name for the new pattern library in the Library Name dialog box. As the library gets empty when you create a new blank pattern library, select Add New Pattern and add new patterns you want. |
Load Library |
Opens an existing pattern library. |
Save As Library |
Saves the current list of patterns as another library file. |
Append Library |
Adds an existing pattern library to the current pattern library. |
Reset Library |
Cancels the modification made to the current library. This menu does not apply to the user-created libraries. |
Default Library |
Loads the default pattern library. |
Gray Library |
Loads the gray pattern library. |
